Jane Ladlow
MA VetMB, DiplECVS FHEA MRCVS,
Veterinary Specialist,
Granta Veterinary Specialists
With more than twenty years’ experience as a Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, focusing on upper airway disease in dogs. In 2005, Jane started researching brachycephalic obstructive airway disease (BOAS) and, with Dr Nai-Chieh Lui, together they devised a non-invasive method of assessing airway function in flat faced dogs (bulldogs, French bulldogs and pugs) and also introduced a clinical grading system for BOAS. The work led to the development of The Kennel Club/ University of Cambridge Respiratory Function Grading Scheme to facilitate the breeding of healthy dogs. The RFG Scheme has been licensed in sixteen other countries so far, enabling a more international overview of the health of these breeds. This year we expanded the RFG Scheme to include 14 other brachycephalic breeds to improve breed health. Two years ago Jane opened an independent veterinary referral hospital, Granta Veterinary Specialists, with other experienced Specialist Colleagues.https://www.grantavets.co.uk/services/boas-airway-clinic/
