Head of Surgery service London vet specialists, Clinical Research Lead. Prior to her arrival in London, she was head of the Department of Surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. She is an ACVS Founding Fellow, Minimally Invasive (soft tissue) Surgery and served until recently as the Associate Editor, Minimally Invasive Surgery, for the prestigious Veterinary Surgery Journal. Janet received her DVM degree from The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She then completed her internship and surgical residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York. She stayed on at the AMC as a faculty surgeon and residency director.
She served on the ACVS Foundation Board, is an Advisor of the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Dr. Mcclaran was recognized in 2018 as an Honored Mentor by the ACVS, acknowledging the mentorship and support she contributed to residents and colleagues during their surgical training, and was named in 2024 as an RCVS Fellow for meritorious contributions to clinical practice.
Janet is a regular contributor at national and international conferences and has published widely on her subject in both academic journals and textbooks. Additionally, she teaches minimally invasive surgery courses at regional and national conferences.
