Jenny qualified in veterinary medicine from University College Dublin in 1991 and spent two years working as a small animal veterinarian in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. She then moved to the University of Cambridge, UK where she completed her PhD entitled “The role of platelet-derived growth factor in remyelination”. Following this she spent three years in a Veterinary Pathology Residency at the University of Liverpool, where she completed her European Boards and RCPath in veterinary pathology. Following a short period as a Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology at Liverpool University, she moved to AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Alderley Park, UK, in 2001 where she held the position of Senior Pathologist at the Department of Pathology until 2013, specialising in toxicologic pathology and animal models for neurologic disease, infection and oncology. Jenny has also provided veterinary teaching and mentoring experience in various universities and industry, and is a past examiner for the European College of Veterinary Pathologists. She has worked in several international committees including the North American Scientific and Regulatory Policy Committee, INHAND Central Nervous System Working Group, interacted with US and European drug regulators for drug submissions, and is a Past President of the European Society of Toxicologic Pathology. Jenny has published two book chapters on “The role of Nitric Oxide in the Nervous System” and “Boorman’s Pathology of the Rat-The Spinal Cord and Peripheral Nervous System” and has ~ 50 publications in peer reviewed journals. Special interests include implementation of digital pathology and artificial intelligence, oncology, neuropathology and feline and laboratory animal pathology
