Johanna obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Helsinki, Finland in 2001. She then worked for few years in mixed and small animal practice before moving to Montreal, Canada to undertake MSc and specialist training in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia in a busy hospital seeing a lot of large animals. She obtained diploma in European College Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, and also defended a PhD at the University of Helsinki. She has been working in Canada, UK, and New Zealand for several years and is now one of the Lecturers in Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Royal Veterinary College, and an RCVS and European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Johanna is interested in all aspects of veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia, and enjoys working with different species. Special interests are holistic pain management and also the analgesic adjunctive effects of alpha-2 agonists. Johanna also has a post graduate certificate in veterinary education.
