John started at Fyrnwy following graduation in 2007 and joined the partnership in 2011. He is now a clinical director.
John is a member of the stud medicine team, responsible for Shade Oak Stud. At Stallion AI, John is responsible for the veterinary management of the stallions and is centre veterinary surgeon for the quarantine and exports of semen. He has extensive experience with fresh chilled and frozen semen, together with embryo transfer. John sits on the veterinary committees of the Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the British Horseracing Authority. John is also actively involved with the teaching of stud medicine through the British Equine Veterinary Association and at courses held at Twemlows Stud Farm.
Alongside the stud medicine side of the practice, John is involved with the management of sports horses, with a particular interest in lameness and poor performance. He is also an FEI Permitted Treating Vet and is on the veterinary panels for Haydock, Uttoxeter, Chester and Bangor racecourses.
