Karla graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2011 and began her career as an equine veterinarian in Yorkshire, where she worked in both ambulatory practice and anaesthetised horses in a clinic setting. This experience sparked a deeper interest in anaesthesia, leading her to undertake a residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the University of Edinburgh. Following her residency, Karla moved to a large multidisciplinary referral hospital in Hampshire, where she progressed to Head of Anaesthesia. She joined Lumbry Park in 2020, was appointed Clinical Director in August 2023, and took on overall responsibility for the business in September 2024. Prior to this, she also led the anaesthesia service at Lumbry Park. Outside of work, she is a competitive runner for Winchester Running Club and Northern Ireland. When not running, she enjoys long walks with her English Pointer, Caper.
