Karla is an RCVS and European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and is currently Head of Soft Tissue Surgery at Hamilton Specialist Referrals.
Karla developed her expertise in soft tissue surgery in the small animal teaching hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania, University of Cambridge and the Royal Veterinary College. Karla has many years of experience in teaching small animal surgery to undergraduate veterinary students, ECVS residents and practicing veterinary surgeons. Karla has a diverse clinical research output, publishing work on portosystemic shunts, pyothorax, septic peritonitis, migrating foreign bodies, stick injuries, biliary surgery and feline urethrostomy. Clinically, Karla enjoys all aspects of soft tissue surgery, including emergency surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, biliary system, chest and urinary system; management of complex wounds; oncological surgery; laparoscopy; and thoracoscopy.
