BIOGRAPHY
Marcus Swail BVMS CertEqSportsMed MRCVS
Marcus is a 1993 graduate of The University Of Glasgow Veterinary School. He worked in
Scotland and Australia before returning to Ireland in 1998 to join and subsequently
become a partner in Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital in Kildare. In 2008 he established
EquiVET Ireland in order to develop his specific interest in Equine Sports Medicine. The
practice specialises in lameness investigation, performance loss and pre-purchase
examinations. EquiVET Ireland also provides the veterinary support to the entirety of the
Irish Sport Horse teams across all age groups and disciplines. In this remit Marcus has
attended 4 Olympic Games, 4 World Equestrian Games and multiple European
Championships across all disciplines. He completed a Graduate Certificate in Equine
Sports Medicine from University College Dublin in 2018. Outside of clinical practice, he is
an avid sports fan and an enthusiastic Mountain Biker, competing nationally and overseas
at every available opportunity.
