Prior to undertaking his veterinary degree, Matt studied cell biology at Liverpool University and gained a PhD in radiation oncology at Liverpool Medical School. He undertook the accelerated 4-year vet undergraduate course at Liverpool with his first child arriving during year 4 exams! The early part of his veterinary career was spent in small animal and specialist equine clinical practices. He left clinical practice in 2005 to embark on a series of industry roles, spanning research and development and commercial functions. In 2014 he took the role of Director of Clinical Education at the Vet School at the University of Surrey where he led the establishment of a unique ‘distributed’ model of clinical education. Since August 2019 he has been Head of School at The Harper & Keele Veterinary School.
