Richard is the UK Welfare Lead for IVC Evidensia, where his role is to drive projects with a positive impact on animal while providing support to clinicians in dealing with cases of abuse or neglect. He assisted in the development of the NAI enquiry service which provides support to veterinary professionals who have encountered cases where Non-Accidental Injury is suspected or known to have occurred. He is also a GP veterinary surgeon for the Lamond Veterinary Clinic in central Scotland. While starting in rural mixed practice he has been in his current post as a companion animal GP veterinarian for over a decade. He is an experienced independent expert witness undertaking regular instructions in both criminal and civil fields involving animal welfare.
