Robyn Lowe is an Advanced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), writer and advocate with a strong commitment to evidence-based veterinary medicine, animal welfare and the wellbeing of the veterinary profession. Alongside her clinical work in small animal practice, Robyn has undertaken a range of non-clinical and voluntary roles. She has volunteered with organisations including Elephant Nature Park, Canine Arthritis Management and Street Paws, and regularly writes evidence-based articles for academic and professional publications, as well as accessible educational resources for animal owners. Robyn has continued to develop her clinical knowledge throughout her career, completing advanced qualifications in clinical veterinary nursing, including surgery, medicine and anaesthesia. She is passionate about translating scientific evidence into clear, practical information that can support both veterinary professionals and animal owners in making informed decisions. As Director of Veterinary Voices UK, Robyn works to encourage constructive discussion, professional engagement and peer support across the veterinary community. She manages the organisation’s public-facing platform and uses its closed veterinary discussion group to provide a space where members of the profession can discuss important issues, share experiences and engage with consultations, legislative enquiries and matters affecting veterinary practice. A key part of Robyn’s work is helping veterinary professionals navigate complex or challenging subjects. She has developed evidence-based articles and resources that review and break down available research into clear, accessible information, helping colleagues understand the evidence and apply it to everyday clinical practice. Robyn is also a passionate advocate for mental health and wellbeing within the veterinary profession. Recognising the impact of loneliness and isolation during the COVID-19 lockdowns, she co-founded the Veterinary Voices Hiking Group with Paul Horwood. The group was established to encourage members of the veterinary community to spend time outdoors for their physical and mental wellbeing, while creating opportunities to meet new people and build friendships, professional connections and supportive networks. Her commitment to veterinary mental health also extends to her role on the Board of Trustees of Vetlife. Robyn became the first Registered Veterinary Nurse in the charity’s history to serve as a trustee, helping to ensure that the veterinary nursing profession is represented within conversations surrounding mental health and wellbeing. Across her clinical, educational and advocacy work, Robyn is committed to strengthening the veterinary profession through evidence-based practice, informed discussion, professional engagement and meaningful peer support.
