Sharon King graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1999 and, after several years working in mixed veterinary practice in Wales, returned to her hometown of Aberystwyth in 2006 to join Downes Veterinary Services as a small animal clinician. Throughout her career, she has been committed to supporting veterinary students and early-career colleagues, helping to develop the next generation of veterinary professionals. Following the establishment of the Aberystwyth School of Veterinary Science in 2021, Sharon was appointed Lecturer in Veterinary Science for the collaborative BVSc degree programme delivered by Aberystwyth University and the Royal Veterinary College. She continues to combine her academic responsibilities with clinical practice, working one day each week as a small animal clinician.
