Dr Simon Dean is an ophthalmologist. He has an exemplary career including a fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO). He also holds a fellowship of the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA) and an MSc in cataract and refractive surgery in 2009. Dr Dean was Head of Department at Manukau Superclinic for seven years and has recently been promoted to Chair of the basic sciences and COPEM. Whilst active in teaching and research he’s also designed and built several ophthalmic instruments, including a corneal collagen crosslinking device. He is the inventor and research coordinator of the Photon Therapeutics device using novel technology.
