Stuart qualified from Bristol in 1993. Having always wanted to be a farm vet he discovered the dark murky world of small animal orthopaedics in the fourth year working with Steve Butterworth and John Innes (now professor!). After 30 years as a partner in a mixed dairy practice in Utoxeter where he was responsible for much of the day to day running of the practice, and having recently obtained the BSAVA Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, he left to join Graham Oliver at East Midlands Referrals near Nottingham. Covid happened and Stuart was seduced by West Midlands Referrals where he spent 18 months before heading back to EMR where he is now branch partner and clinical lead. His interests lie in neurology/neurosurgery (spine) and cruciate surgery. He is a member of both BVOA and BVNS. His wife has threatened him with divorce if he considers starting another certificate.
