Vanessa qualified from Bristol in 1989, and worked in mixed, small animal, and farm animal practice until 2017. In 2017 she joined APHA as a veterinary investigation officer. She became veterinary lead of the APHA Cattle Surveillance Group in 2021, which undertakes surveillance for new and re-emerging threats in cattle, and changing trends in endemic disease.
