Having a structured process for veterinary teams to understand and learn from things that don’t go as planned has many benefits. For patients and their owners, it means improved safety, better outcomes, and greater transparency. For practice teams, it encourages a more open culture, support for those involved in patient safety events, and a chance to be part of creating a solution. Improved staff wellbeing, better patient outcomes, fewer complaints, and cost reduction associated with safety events are all positive outcomes for the practice.

Separation related problems – possibly the biggest welfare problem for domestic dogs!
10 Aug 2023 Claire HargraveAs the description suggests, owner absent behaviour problems occur when owners are not present to observe either the initiating event or their dog’s subsequent distress. Inevitably, separation related behaviours (SRBs) are only reported as a separation related problem (SRP) once a behaviour becomes a problem for the owner; predominantly due to damage caused to the home or neighbour’s complaints regarding noise. Hence this complaint can have severe implications for the owner-animal bond and potential for relinquishment.
Join the team from the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians in Gallery Suite 11-12 from 9.30am to 1.00pm on Thursday 16th November to learn more about the causes and treatment of this welfare problem that could be affecting 80 of the domestic canine population.

London Vet Show Event Director takes on 100miles cycle challenge to raise funds for Vetlife.
19 May 2023 London Vet ShowHarry Norman isn’t shy of a challenge, organizing events for CloserStill for 4 years, recently winning the accolade Best Event Director at the EN Awards 2022, though in less than two weeks’ time, he’ll be taking on one of his toughest yet taking part in Ride London raising funds for the charity Vetlife.
The mass cycling event, widely known as the “London Marathon on two wheels”, starts at Embankment and routes 100 miles out to the Essex countryside returning to the capital with the finish line at the iconic Tower Bridge.
The challenge came to fruition when Vetlife and London Vet Show’s new relationship together began this year. Harry having previously cycled in the race before after training intensely for 6 months back in 2022, saw a perfect opportunity to support the important veterinary charity, by taking part in Ride London once again but with the additional challenge of only having 3 serious weeks to train outside of the rather tame daily 5k commute on his Brompton.

What Are Your Clients Feeding Their Pets Post-Op?
11 Nov 2022 Hill's Pet NutritionSending their pets in for surgeries and other anaesthetic procedures can be a scary time for pet owners, even for procedures that vets consider “routine”. They feel sympathy for their pet, and because of this may be tempted to feed them foods that aren’t the best for the recovery process, and may even cause gastrointestinal upset themselves. Pet owners may feed new varieties of pet food that their pet isn’t used to, table foods and even restaurant takeaway during the recovery period. -
