Leah Griffiths, a third year vet student, has been included in the  2025 Vet Show 30 Under Thirty (VS30) initiative – a group of young professionals identified by the London Vet Show and Pioneering Veterinary Products as those who are shaping the future of the veterinary industry.

As we gather once again for the London Vet Show, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the amazing journeys and achievements of last year’s 30 Under Thirty cohort. From personal triumphs to professional milestones, the past year has been nothing short of inspiring. 

London Vet Show welcomes the Vet Mums community to host a mastermind session during the conference. Each year, the admins and members suggest and vote on topics of relevance to veterinary team members balancing a career with parenthood. In 2024, the discussion centred around barriers to career progression. The following write up contains insights from the session with additional research and information to inform how we can best support thriving careers for veterinary parents and those with caring responsibilities aside from parenthood.

Abbe Craford trained at the University of Edinburgh and completed an internship and residency at the Royal Veterinary College, alongside a Welcome Trust–funded PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge. Her work sits at the intersection of clinical neurology, neurosurgery and translational research - a varied role that sees her juggling complex emergency cases, teaching the next generation of vets, and collaborating with research teams to push clinical science forward.  

Rebecca Geddes, Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College, has built a reputation for combining clinical excellence with an infectious enthusiasm for teaching. Her work bridges the worlds of academia and practice, inspiring the next generation of vets while advancing how we approach internal medicine.

Since qualifying as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in 2019, Sarah Spolton has built a career grounded in curiosity, compassion, and continuous growth. Now an Internal Medicine Nurse at DWR Veterinary Specialists in Newmarket, she combines clinical excellence with a passion for education and anaesthesia. In 2023, Sarah completed the Improve International Certificate in Anaesthesia and became a clinical supervisor, supporting the next generation of veterinary nurses as they find their footing in this rewarding field.

Innovation will take centre stage at Anivators on 19 November, when some of the most promising startups in animal health go head-to-head in a high-energy pitch competition. Powered by the Unleashed by Purina Accelerator Lab, the event will see founders battle the clock with just five minutes to present their pioneering ideas, followed by questions from an expert panel of judges.

Professor Bettina Dunkel has dedicated her career to advancing equine medicine and inspiring the next generation of veterinarians. Since joining the Royal Veterinary College in 2008, she has become Professor in Equine Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, and now serves as Head of RVC Equine.

Bettina also brings together leading voices in equine practice to share the latest evidence, insights, and innovations in the RVC Equine Theatres at the London Vet Show.

We caught up with her to talk about her journey into veterinary medicine, her approach to teaching, and what delegates can expect from her upcoming session, “An evidence-based approach to equine headshaking.”
