For patients and their owners, it means improved safety, better outcomes, and greater transparency. For practice teams, it encourages a more open culture, support for those involved in patient safety events, and a chance to be part of creating a solution. Improved staff wellbeing, better patient outcomes, fewer complaints, and cost reduction associated with safety events are all positive outcomes for the practice.

Separation related problems – possibly the biggest welfare problem for domestic dogs!
10 Aug 2023 Claire HargraveAs the description suggests, owner absent behaviour problems occur when owners are not present to observe either the initiating event or their dog’s subsequent distress. Inevitably, separation related behaviours (SRBs) are only reported as a separation related problem (SRP) once a behaviour becomes a problem for the owner; predominantly due to damage caused to the home or neighbour’s complaints regarding noise. Hence this complaint can have severe implications for the owner-animal bond and potential for relinquishment.
Join the team from the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians in Gallery Suite 11-12 from 9.30am to 1.00pm on Thursday 16th November to learn more about the causes and treatment of this welfare problem that could be affecting 80 of the domestic canine population.
