How does regulation help Vets and Animal Owners?

When you see a physiotherapist as part of your rehabilitation you do not stop to ask what their qualification is or if they are regulated. The expectation is present that the NHS has checked all that out for you. So when you get physiotherapy for your pet, often that same expectation that they are qualified and regulated, is never questioned…. ! -

22 Feb 2022 Vet ShowTwelve years ago, saw the launch of the London Vet Show and that is where the Vet Show journey began. We have had lots of questions over the years. Top of the list is a discussion over whether it was a dog or a horse, followed up quickly over the questions of “what do you mean there is a hidden cat?” but more recently there have been questions over whether our dog had cropped ears. We would like to address this and take our logo forward into the next era. -

Exhibitor News - An Introduction to Vegan Dog Food

Interpreting the evidence to guide decision making in persistent pain cases
Written by Dr James Hunt BVetMed MSc PhD CertVA DipECAWBM(AWSEL) MRCVS petpainrelief.co.ukThe expansion of studies evaluating treatment of pain in animals is a significant achievement for veterinary medicine and animal welfare, however science isn’t always clear-cut. Sometimes results are unexpected and differ from previous findings. Abstracts are necessarily concise, and may not reflect all of the considerations pertaining to patients.
How, then, should we assess scientific investigations into putative analgesics to treat our clinical cases?

Chronic pain is a growing concern in the veterinary world, and it’s a problem that often goes unnoticed until it has already impacted a pet’s quality of life. For many companion animals, pain from conditions such as osteoarthritis, dental and dermatological issues, and disease of visceral origin, becomes a persistent part of their everyday existence. Recent data suggests that this problem is far more prevalent than many realise, and its impact can be devastating for both pets and their caregivers.
